Read Daniel 3:8-12. When Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego did not bow to the image, they were called out by their peers. Read Matthew 5:10-12 and 1 John 3:13. How do we endure the ridicule of people who don’t believe what we believe?
Read Daniel 3:13-15. Living for God often costs us something. How do you learn to live by faith despite the costs? Read Mark 10:28-30. What promise does Jesus make to those who sacrifice for him?
Read Daniel 3:16-18. What does real conviction look like? Who in your life has shown this kind of conviction? What do you admire about it? How does it challenge you? Read Matthew 5:13. What does it mean to stay “salty” as a Christian? What concern does Jesus express about the person who doesn’t always live by conviction?
Read Daniel 3:19-27. What happens? In many stories in the Bible, God shows up in a miraculous way. Have you ever had that happen? Read Psalm 46:1. What does this tell us about God? How do we trust God for the outcomes of our decision to stand in our faith? Read Romans 12:14. What does that look like in real life to stand for God?
Read Daniel 3:28-30. How does God turn the heart of the king? How do you think God uses our “living by convictions” as a witness? Matthew 5:14-16. How might God use your faith in this present time?
Read 1 Corinthians 15:58 and 16:13. What challenge are we given in these verses? Pray that God will help us to stand firm.
